Corpus Christi, TX (Coastal Bend)

What is this "Jelly"?

Jelly is an every-so-often casual coworking session (we'll be starting with one in Corpus Christi and one in Port Aransas per month). Anyone is welcome to come and bring your laptop, art supplies, or whatever, and work alongside other creative, fun people.

Amit Gupta and Luke Crawford started Jelly in March 2006, in New York City. They chose the name Jelly because they thought of the coworking idea while eating jellybeans.

What are you doing in Corpus Christi and the Coastal Bend?

Despite our reputation for being slow adopters, there is a budding community of techies in the Coastal Bend.

With the inception of Social Media Club Corpus Christi in April 2009, we started to find each other.

Freelancers, home office types, small business owners and other creatives have been bemoaning the lack of coworking in our area. We

hope to see Jelly Corpus Christi grow and spawn other groups and even businesses.

  Hope to see you soon!

When do you meet?

Jelly Corpus Christi meets twice a month (for now): first Fridays in Corpus Christi and third Fridays in Port Aransas. Jelly goes from 10 am - 3 pm, officially speaking. What you do after that is up to you and the space that has been so gracious to host us.

Our inaugural Jelly will be Friday, May 7 at Coffee Waves in Corpus Christi. Click here for a map & directions.

Our Twitter hashtag is #CCJelly, and here's a Twitter list of local Jelly folks.

Where do you meet?

Coffee Waves has been generous enough to open their doors to us in Corpus Christi. Coffee Waves in Corpus Christi is located across from the Oso golf course, on Alameda between Airline & Ennis Joslin.

There is plenty of parking. There are ample tables along the walls near outlets, and there is free Wi-Fi.

The Port Aransas location will be announced soon.

Is someone in charge of this racket?

I don't know if "in charge" is an accurate description of this seat-of-the-pants endeavor, but it was my idea to launch Jelly in Corpus Christi and Chelle's idea for one in Port Aransas.

I'm Holly Hoffman (@hollyhoffman on Twitter). And Chelle is @chelleyarbrough on Twitter.
